HARRISBURG (Jan. 31, 2017) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today said auditors will begin work Feb. 13 on a limited procedures engagement review of five charter schools operated in Philadelphia by Aspira Inc. of Pennsylvania:

Aspira Bilingual Cyber Charter School,

Eugenio Maria De Hostos Charter School,

Olney Charter High School,

Antonia Pantoja Community Charter School, and

John B. Stetson Charter School.

“We are conducting a combined review of these five charter schools operating under the same management company to be more efficient,” DePasquale said. “This process should save each school time and resources and avoiding duplication, as well as reduce the cost associated with five separate audit engagements.”

The limited procedures engagement will review the schools’ governance, budgeting practices, leasing arrangements, contracting and grant oversight and other area(s) identified as significant during the course of the review.

The review will cover July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2016.
