Auditor General DePasquale Invites Public to March 28 Forum in Lancaster on Job Training, Local Workforce Development Efforts

Says targeted job training is essential to keep Lancaster County’s economy robust

HARRISBURG (March 21, 2017) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today invited local residents, along with  community, business and education leaders, to join him for a forum with a panel of experts to discuss job training and workforce development in Lancaster County.

The forum will be held: Tuesday, March 28, from 10:30 a.m. to Noon in the Multipurpose Activity Center at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, 750 East King St. Lancaster.

The public is welcome to attend and ask questions.

“We need to make certain that we are doing everything possible to provide workers with the skills they need to succeed in today’s challenging job market,” DePasquale said. “We want workers to have the skills to get good jobs and earn a respectable wage.”

“This is the third public meeting I have held across the state to gather information on workforce training needs. Hearing from local residents will help prepare for an audit of the effectiveness of state-funded workforce training programs. I want to hear from the people about what has been successful, what has failed and what we can do better.”

DePasquale will lead a discussion of panelists which includes top employers, educators, students and advocates for business and industry. The panel is expected to include representatives from:

Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Industry,

Thaddeus Stevens College,

Student representation from Thaddeus Stevens College,

Lancaster County Workforce Development Board,

High Industries, and

Tec Centro.

So far, the auditor general has heard from more than 200 people who participated in public forums held in Beaver and Luzerne counties in January and February.

Dates and locations for future workforce training forums will be announced in the coming weeks and posted online at: www.PaAuditor.gov.
