HARRISBURG (Dec. 13, 2017) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today issued the following statement after the Senate State Government Committee approved Senate Bill 762 calling for an audit of the Department of State’s Statewide Uniform Registry of Electors (SURE):

“I am encouraged by the Senate’s willingness to have my team audit Pennsylvania’s voter registry.

“It’s absolutely vital that a comprehensive audit of the system be done to ensure the integrity of our voter registry systems across our 67 counties and to verify that the appropriate cyber security measures are in place.

“My team is already preparing for this audit so that we can provide a full report by the deadline set in the legislation.”

SB 762 requires the audit to be completed by no later than Dec. 31, 2018. The Senate could take a final vote in January before sending it to the House for consideration.
