HARRISBURG (Aug. 13, 2017) Pennsylvania Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today issued the following statement on the violence in Charlottesville, VA:

“As Americans we need to nurture understanding and cooperation while condemning hatred and violence.

“I commend the national leaders on all sides of the political spectrum for putting aside their ideological differences to condemn the violent actions of white nationalists and neo-Nazis in Charlottesville this weekend where at least one person died and more than a dozen people were injured.

“We can have disagreements on policy, but the greatness of America will not be torn apart by white nationalists and racist thugs. Our nation must be united against racism and bigotry.

“The family and friends of those killed and injured are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope for eventual peace and healing for the families and friends of the victims of this horrific tragedy, and for the people of Charlottesville.”
