HARRISBURG (Jan. 25, 2018) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today issued the following statement about how the Pennsylvania Lottery investigates frequency of lottery winners:

“Following up on the Patriot-News stories about frequent lottery winners, I met with Pennsylvania Lottery officials. After a thorough review, it is my view that lottery staff conducted an appropriate investigation and implemented additional security measures. Today I shared my conclusions with the attorney general.

“I will be monitoring the lottery operation and reserve the right to begin an audit once the changes recently implemented have had time to be effective.

“I want to ensure the integrity of Pennsylvania’s lottery because senior citizens across the state rely on the programs and services funded by lottery proceeds.”
