Auditor General DePasquale Releases Audits for School Districts in Four Counties
HARRISBURG (Nov. 9, 2017) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today announced the release of audit reports for four school districts in Berks, Butler, Montgomery and Westmoreland counties.
The Department of the Auditor General examines the records of school districts, charter schools, intermediate units, and area vocational-technical schools. The audits — among other things — assess whether or not school entities received the state subsidies and reimbursements to which they were entitled, accurately managed taxpayer funds, and complied with ethics codes. The audits also determine whether or not teachers and administrators were properly certified for the positions they held during the audit period.

Berks County
Properly implemented policies and procedures for internal controls, budgetary practices, Right-to-Know and Sunshine laws; and complied, in all significant respects, with relevant requirements.
Butler County
South Butler County School District
Complied, in all significant respects, with applicable state laws, contracts, grant requirements and administrative procedures.
Montgomery County
Properly implemented policies and procedures for internal controls, budgetary practices, Right-to-Know and Sunshine laws; and complied, in all significant respects, with relevant requirements, except as detailed in the observation in the report.
Westmoreland County
New Kensington-Arnold School District
Complied, in all significant respects, with applicable state laws, contracts, grant requirements and administrative procedures except in the finding of the district’s employment contracts with its superintendent and assistant superintendent were not in compliance with the public school code.
