Auditor General DePasquale Says Department of the Auditor General Passed Rigorous Peer Review

Rating of ‘pass’ is highest level of assurance that an external peer review team can award

HARRISBURG (Oct. 29, 2015) Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today said that the Department of the Auditor General has successfully passed a rigorous external peer review by representatives of the National State Auditors Association (NSAA).

“Our rating of ‘pass’ is the highest level of assurance that an external peer review team can award,” DePasquale said. “In other words, they determined that we are conducting our audits in a manner that is fair, objective, and free from bias or partiality.”

In their report, the peer review team concluded that the department’s audit-related policies and procedures in effect for the period July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015 were appropriately designed and complied with to provide the department and its auditees with reasonable assurance that audits were properly conducted in accordance with Government Auditing Standards.

The external peer review was conducted under the auspices of NSAA in conjunction with the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers. Government Auditing Standards require external peer reviews to be conducted every three years. The next external peer review will be in the fall of 2018.

The NSAA report is available here.
