About This Audit
The compliance audit of the Derry Township Police Pension Plan, conducted under Act 205, assessed whether the plan adhered to applicable laws, regulations, and policies from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023. The audit aimed to verify corrective measures from past audits and compliance with state mandates. It revealed three major areas of continued noncompliance: failure to address Act 600’s military service benefit provisions, lack of a defined ordinance for the In-Service Retirement Option Plan, and unauthorized provision for a “Killed in Service” benefit. Despite identifying these issues in prior audits, Derry Township officials have yet to implement corrective actions. The audit confirmed that, aside from these areas, the plan mostly complied with relevant standards. Township officials are urged to rectify these repeated findings promptly. The report concluded that while the pension plan was largely managed appropriately, specific deficiencies merit immediate attention to ensure full compliance.
