About This Audit
A compliance audit was conducted on the Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department Firemen’s Relief Association in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, for the period from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2024. The audit aimed to confirm whether the relief association corrected issues identified in a previous audit and complied with relevant state laws regarding receipt and spending of state aid. The audit revealed that the association failed to take appropriate corrective action regarding maintaining its own Pennsylvania sales tax exemption number, instead relying on the affiliated fire company’s number, which is noncompliant. Consequently, the association did not fully meet state compliance requirements, potentially affecting future state aid distribution. Management has been advised to address the recurring issues to avoid financial repercussions.
