About This Audit

The compliance audit of the Alsace Manor Fire Co. Fireman’s Relief Association for the period from January 1, 2019, to March 7, 2024, examined whether prior audit recommendations were addressed and compliance with state laws related to state aid and expenditure of funds was maintained. It found that corrective actions for previous findings, such as securing ownership interest in jointly purchased vehicles and equipment, documenting expenditures, maintaining an accurate membership roster, and maintaining a surety bond, were not taken. As Alsace Manor was decertified as a fire protection provider in 2018, a receiver was appointed to settle and distribute the association’s assets following a court order. Consequently, the association was dissolved, and remaining assets were allocated to other local fire relief organizations. Despite ongoing noncompliance with prior recommendations, the association generally adhered to state laws governing its operations, with exceptions noted in the audit findings.
