About This Audit
From January 1, 2024, to August 4, 2025, the Big Knob Firemen’s Relief Association was audited for compliance with Pennsylvania laws and the Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Association Act. The audit aimed to verify corrective actions from a prior audit and assess compliance with relevant laws and procedures concerning state aid and funds expenditure. The audit found that the relief association took appropriate corrective action and largely complied with applicable requirements, except for a finding related to outdated bylaws. On August 4, 2025, the association dissolved and merged with Pine Run Firemen’s Relief Association, which changed its name to New Sewickley Firefighter’s Relief Association. It is recommended that the new association review and update its bylaws to ensure compliance with the VFRA Act. The audit results and recommendations were shared with relevant officials for further action and consideration. This is an automated summary.
