About This Audit

The compliance audit of the Cumru Township Volunteer Firefighters Relief Association covered January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023. Its objectives were to verify corrective actions on prior findings and compliance with state laws regarding state aid and fund expenditures. The audit identified the association acted on previous findings and mostly complied with regulations, except for an unauthorized $1,000 expenditure. Fund management is responsible for adhering to legal and procedural requirements, ensuring proper financial conduct, and safeguarding assets. Although efforts were made to meet audit objectives, missing documentation of canceled checks limited verification of funding authorization. A finding reported included an “Unauthorized Expenditure” of $1,000, highlighting the association’s financial decision oversight. Despite this, the audit thanked the association for its cooperation and acknowledged corrective actions taken on past audits.
