Harrisburg Firemen’s Relief Association of the State of Pennsylvania – Dauphin County – Audit Period January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2023

A compliance audit of the Harrisburg Firemen’s Relief Association, covering January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023, was conducted to assess adherence to state laws, contracts, and administrative procedures related to state aid and fund expenditures. The audit confirmed compliance in significant areas; however, it identified three deficiencies. The association addressed only two of four prior findings and continued noncompliance with unauthorized expenditures and inaccurate membership records. Additionally, undocumented expenditures were noted. The audit was not aligned with Government Auditing Standards but aims to ensure proper financial practices. The Association’s officials are tasked with maintaining effective controls and rectifying these issues to meet state guidelines. The audit did not offer an opinion on the financial amounts but highlighted areas for improvement to ensure proper fund management and compliance. The management has been informed of the findings for corrective measures.
