About This Audit
A compliance audit of the Orange Township Police Pension Plan for the year 2023, conducted under the Municipal Pension Plan Funding Standard and Recovery Act (Act 205), evaluated the plan’s adherence to state laws and regulations. The audit found that state aid was not fully deposited, violating Act 205, which requires full deposit of state aid within 30 days of receipt. Additionally, an ordinance was improperly amended by resolution. Recommendations include depositing outstanding state aid with accrued interest and improving procedures to ensure compliance. The audit, which was not in accordance with Government Auditing Standards, verified deposit and reporting practices and tested the pension plan’s compliance with applicable requirements. Orange Township is responsible for the pension plan following the dissolution of the Orangeville Area Police Board. Officials agreed with the audit findings and compliance measures will be reassessed in future audits.
