About This Audit
The Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General conducted a performance audit of the Pennsylvania Department of Aging’s (PDA) oversight of Area Agencies on Aging (AAA).
The audit had 2 objectives: Determine if PDA properly monitored AAAs investigations of elder abuse and mistreatment; and, Ensure AAAs protective services staff met the minimum training requirements under the law and regulations. Auditors had 10 findings and provided 39 recommendations to the Pennsylvania Department of Aging’s (PDA) for improvements and three to the legislature to strengthen the Older Adults Protective Services Act.
