About This Audit
A compliance audit was conducted on the Riegelsville Community Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Fund Association for the period from January 1, 2022, to November 10, 2023. The audit aimed to assess compliance with state laws and procedures related to the receipt and expenditure of state aid. The review showed compliance, except for an unsecured loan made to Community Fire Company No. 1, which left an outstanding balance of $66,519 at the association’s dissolution. The audit further noted that the relief association had dissolved and merged with the Ottsville Volunteer Fire Company Relief Association to form the Palisades Regional Fire Rescue Relief Association, transferring all monetary assets and equipment accordingly. The audit recommended amending the loan agreement to secure the association’s investment and emphasized the need to comply with statutory requirements for such transactions. Former management acknowledged the findings, and the outstanding loan was fully repaid post-audit.
