About This Audit

The Pennsylvania Auditor General conducted a Limited Procedures Engagement (LPE) of the Volunteer Firemen’s Relief Association of Sellersville for January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023. The investigation aimed to verify if funds were used for authorized purposes and state aid was deposited properly, in accordance with the VFRA Act and Act 205 of 1984. The audit reviewed evidence of financial transactions, totaling expenditures of $147,554, involving documentation such as bank statements and receipts. Interviews with relief association officials were part of the audit process, but the investment balance of $123,017 could not be independently verified. No evidence was found of unauthorized fund usage, but continued comprehensive documentation is recommended. The association’s cash and investments amounted to $407,934 by the end of 2023. The relief association received state aid from multiple municipalities and maintains its financial activities separately from its affiliated fire service organization, the Sellersville Fire Department.
