About This Audit

The compliance audit for The Volunteer Firemen’s Relief Association of the Bethel Township Hose Company No. 1, conducted for the period from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2024, aimed to assess corrective actions regarding previous findings and determine compliance with state laws on state aid and funds expenditure. The audit found that the relief association did not adequately address two prior findings: failure to maintain a complete and accurate equipment roster and failure to adhere to bylaws. Additionally, a third finding was identified concerning financial accounts registered under an unknown federal tax ID number. Despite these issues, the association largely complied with relevant laws and procedures. The audit encountered limitations in verifying a portion of the investment balance. The management has been informed of these findings and recommendations to ensure better compliance in the future. Cooperation from the relief association was appreciated during the audit.
