About This Audit

The Thornhurst Volunteer Firemen’s Relief Association underwent a compliance audit for the period between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2023. The audit, executed under Pennsylvania legal frameworks, aimed to verify if the association had corrected issues highlighted in a previous report and adhered to state laws concerning state aid and fund expenditures. Although bank statement copies showed a cash balance of $11,239 as of December 31, 2023, independent verification was unobtainable. Nevertheless, the audit confirmed that the association took appropriate corrective actions from the prior audit and followed state regulations significantly in managing state aid and funds. The association’s records showed $27,714 in total expenditures, which included insurance premiums and fire service equipment costs. The report, commending the association for compliance improvement, was shared with governmental officials and relevant municipal bodies.
