A Limited Procedures Engagement (LPE) was conducted on the Wellsville Firefighter’s Relief Association in York County, Pennsylvania, for January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023. This engagement aimed to verify the authorized use of funds and proper state aid deposits per the Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Association Act and Act 205 of 1984. The LPE involved reviewing accounting records detailing $116,819 in expenditures, conducting transaction tests totaling $11,646, interviewing officials, and verifying state aid deposits through various documents. The findings revealed no unauthorized expenditures or improper deposit management. The relief association officers must maintain effective controls, ensuring compliance with state laws and safeguarding assets. The report also included background on VFRA Act operations and responsibilities, highlighting the allocation of state aid to the association. Auditor General Timothy L. DeFoor confirmed the LPE results and expressed gratitude for the cooperation during the audit process.
