Auditor General DePasquale Continues to Support LGBTQ Protections
HARRISBURG (Oct. 8, 2019) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today issued the following statement on deliberations of the U.S. Supreme Court regarding whether existing federal law barring sex discrimination applies to all workers, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
“It’s hard to believe that in 2019 there are still questions about whether all Americans are entitled to equal protection under the law.
“When I served in the state House, one of the first bills for which I fought was to protect workers from discrimination. As Auditor General, discrimination has no home in my department.
“It’s time for the Supreme Court to put this issue to rest so that a worker’s ability to do the job is the only thing that matters – as a fair and just society requires.”
