HARRISBURG (Nov. 22, 2019) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today issued the following statement regarding reports that an Amazon contractor is using workers from outside of Pennsylvania to build a 1 million-square-foot distribution center near Pittsburgh:

“Amazon made the right choice to locate its newest distribution center in western Pennsylvania and the state is providing $1.6 million in job-creation tax credits to support this project. I am committed to protecting that investment and maximizing the benefit to Pennsylvania workers.

“Today I instructed my staff to monitor how Amazon moves forward with construction of its new facility in Findlay Township to protect our taxpayers’ investment and ensure Pennsylvanians benefit from it.

“Pennsylvania has the finest workers in the world and I encourage Amazon and its builders to take full advantage of that fact. Skilled Pennsylvania workers are ready and willing to do the job.”
