HARRISBURG (Jan. 9, 2018) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today met with human resources executives at Armstrong Flooring in Lancaster to discuss workforce development challenges facing employers in the region.

“As my audit of the state’s workforce development system progresses, it is important to me for hear directly from business leaders who are creating jobs and seeking skilled workers,” DePasquale said.

“Too often legislation and policy is crafted in Harrisburg that doesn’t take into account how it will impact people and businesses it is intended to help,” he said. “One of the things I am asking employers as I travel the state is what types of reforms could the state undertake to help them address their workforce challenges. I want to include recommendations in my audit that will work in the real world.”

DePasquale’s team is conducting a performance audit to determine if the state’s workforce development system, which reaches across five state agencies, is properly preparing workers for the ever-changing job market. He plans to release the results of the audit later this summer.
