Commends Senate Education Committee for holding hearing on improving student, school safety
HARRISBURG (March 2, 2018)– Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today issued the following statement on student and school safety and security:
“The safety of students should be one of the top priorities of elected officials every single day, not just in the wake of violent incidents carried out at schools. My team of school auditors already works with school districts and law enforcement agencies to help make our schools safer. Next week I will share some of what my team is finding and make an announcement about steps I’ll be taking to help improve school safety.
“I commend the Senate Education Committee members for holding a hearing on this important topic and I look forward to working with the committee to enhance the safety of students.”
The Senate Education Committee, chaired by Senators John Eichelberger Jr., and Andrew Dinniman, is holding a hearing today on improving student and school safety.
