Auditor General DePasquale Releases Audits for School Districts in Adams, Allegheny, Washington Counties

HARRISBURG (Jan. 18, 2018) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today announced the release of audit reports for school districts in Adams, Allegheny and Washington counties.

The Department of the Auditor General examines the records of school districts, charter schools, intermediate units, and area vocational-technical schools. The audits — among other things — assess whether or not school entities received the state subsidies and reimbursements to which they were entitled, accurately managed taxpayer funds, and complied with ethics codes. The audits also determine whether or not teachers and administrators were properly certified for the positions they held during the audit period.

Adams County

Conewago Valley School District

Properly implemented policies and procedures for internal controls, budgetary practices, Right-to-Know and Sunshine laws; and complied, in all significant respects, with relevant requirements.

Allegheny County

Avonworth School District

Properly implemented policies and procedures for internal controls, budgetary practices, Right-to-Know and Sunshine laws; and complied, in all significant respects, with relevant requirements except as detailed in two findings: the district failed to ensure school bus drivers met all employment requirements, and the district incorrectly reported the number of nonpublic students transported resulting in an overpayment from the Pennsylvania Department of Education of $41,580.

Washington County

Washington School District

Complied, in all significant respects, with applicable state laws, contracts, grant requirements and administrative procedures.
