Auditor General DePasquale Slams Supreme Court Decision in Janus
HARRISBURG (June 27, 2018) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today issued the following statement on the U.S. Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision in Janus v. AFSCME:
“Today’s regrettable Supreme Court decision weakens public-sector unions such as the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
“For 10 months, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused to even let the Senate consider Merrick Garland’s appointment, then allowed Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation to be wrapped up in just two months. This disgusting political stunt leaves us where we are today, weakening the ability of millions of American workers to demand fair wages and safe working conditions.
“In my office, we have an effective relationship with AFSCME, and we are stronger for it.”
