Visiting Dauphin County Technical School

HARRISBURG (Jan. 15, 2020) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today toured the Dauphin County Technical School and met with students to discuss how skilled trades and technical schools can offer students a direct path to a solid career.

“Not every student looking for a solid career wants to – or necessarily should – enroll in a traditional four year college,” DePasquale said. “As baby boomers retire there will be a dire need to fill these critical trade and technical jobs that provide steady income and employment right out of the gate without accumulating the college debt that takes many years to pay off.”

Auditor General DePasquale toured and met with students at the Dauphin County Technical School, which serves students from Central Dauphin, Derry Township, Halifax Area, Harrisburg, Lower Dauphin, Middletown Area, and Susquehanna Township school districts.

“The students that I met with today are learning how the modern workforce operates and acquiring the critical skills that will help them get a job in industries as soon as they graduate,” he said.

Last year, DePasquale released his Workforce Development Performance Audit report, which offers a framework to create the nation’s best workforce development system. Learn more about the Department of the Auditor General online at www.paauditor.gov.
