Auditor General Auditor General DePasquale Releases Audits for School Entities in Bucks, Erie, Lehigh Counties
HARRISBURG (July 14, 2016) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today announced the release of audit reports for school districts in Bucks and Erie counties and one charter middle school in Lehigh County.
The Department of the Auditor General examines the records of school districts, charter schools, intermediate units, and area vocational-technical schools. The audits — among other things — assess whether or not school entities received the state subsidies and reimbursements to which they were entitled, accurately managed taxpayer funds, and complied with ethics codes. The audits also determine whether or not teachers and administrators were properly certified for the positions they held during the audit period.

Bucks County
Properly implemented policies and procedures for internal controls, budgetary practices, Right-to-Know and Sunshine laws; and complied, in all significant respects, with relevant requirements.
Erie County
Complied, in all significant respects, with applicable state laws, contracts, grant requirements and administrative procedures.
Lehigh County
Arts Academy Charter Middle School
Applied best practices in all significant respects, with relevant requirements except as detailed in two findings: members of the charter school’s board of trustees and administration failed to file, filed late, or filed incomplete statements of financial interest in noncompliance with the public official and employee ethics act, and the charter school and its board of trustees failed to comply with the Sunshine Act by not adequately notifying the public about special board meetings.
