HARRISBURG (April 27, 2016) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today announced that his team will start an audit of Blackhawk School District, Beaver County, in July.

“Blackhawk School District is looking at furloughing teachers and curtailing programs,” DePasquale said. “My office has been contacted by district residents who have numerous concerns about how this and other substantial issues are being handled. We will take all of those issues into consideration when our next regularly scheduled audit begins in July.”

Audit areas may include, but are not limited to, assessments of financial stability, academic achievement, school safety, teacher and administrator certification, governance, contract management and monitoring, bus driver certification, and student data collection and reporting.

The Beaver County district’s last performance audit was released in September 2013 and had one finding related to overpayment for nonresident students. The new audit also will assess how the district responded to recommendations to prevent that issue from recurring.
