Auditor General DePasquale Encouraged Scranton School District is Widening Search for Next Chief Financial Officer
HARRISBURG (Nov. 9, 2017) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today issued the following statement regarding the Scranton School District’s decision to widen its search for a new chief financial officer:
“I am encouraged by the news that Scranton School District officials have decided to expand the search for a new chief financial officer.
“I hope they put their words into concrete action and mean what they say because I, along with Scranton taxpayers, will be watching. I am not kidding.
“There may well be some qualified internal candidates, but they should compete with outside prospects from a wide search. Scranton School District must find the best qualified candidate to help dig the district out of this financial nightmare.
“Once a qualified chief financial officer is hired, the board and administrators must listen to his or her advice and move the district forward.”
