Auditor General DePasquale Applauds ‘Clean Slate’ Bill Passage
HARRISBURG (June 25, 2018) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today said issued the following statement on the General Assembly’s passage of House Bill 1419, known as the “clean slate” legislation:
“Millions of Pennsylvanians are being impacted by events on their permanent records that happened more than a decade ago. These stains on their records can affect their ability to gain employment, obtain housing and take out loans.
“Non-violent offenders who do not reoffend after 10 years deserve to be given their lives back. They should no longer be punished for lower-level offenses for which they have paid their debt.
“I commend the General Assembly for its bipartisan work to pass this legislation and Gov. Wolf for his plan to sign it.”
