Auditor General DePasquale Supports Independent Judiciary
HARRISBURG (April 10, 2018) – Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today issued the following statement supporting the independence of the judicial branch of government in light of impeachment resolutions drafted by members of the House of Representatives who returned to Harrisburg this week:
“An independent judiciary is key to the checks and balances woven into the fabric of our constitutional republic which has withstood centuries of trials and tribulation.
“Any attack on the judiciary is an attack on the constitution itself.
“The judiciary is designed to be immune from outside influence. Though we may not all agree on decisions rendered, we must respect the judicial system and the vital role it plays in our state and nation.”
